Chairman's Report for 2008 In accordance with the rules of the association, the Central Council met on three occasions during the year 5th January, 7th April and 15th September. All meetings were held in the old school room at Ulnes Walton. The A.G.M. was held in March and all officers were re-elected as from last year. This year the Convention was held in March in Merchant Taylors School, Crosby, and the Honey Show was held in the village hall at Samlesbury. Both were a huge success and Central Council would like to thank the Exhibitions Officer and the Education Officer for their efforts in arranging them. Central council wishes to thank Mrs. Todd for opening the hall for our meeting and AA Gillett for making the tea. Once again we had a very poor year starting with considerable winter losses, a wet spring, a dismal summer and very poor honey crops. Autumn was no better, giving poor heather crops. Late crops of ivy and ragwort may have helped with winter stores. J. McCann |
