


52 year old Martin Smith, is the newly elected President of the BBKA. Martin was introduced to beekeeping over 25 years ago by his wife Jilly. He uses Langstroth and Jumbo Langstroth hives. Martin learnt about beekeeping in Hampshire in the time of Frank Vernon and John Cossburn and he also used to attend the bee meetings at Bill and Mary Dartnell's over twenty years ago. Together with their three children the whole family have been involved in promoting beekeeping to a wider audience. He has been The Ormskirk & Croston (West Lancashire) Branch Secretary and Branch Chairman. Martin is also the Secretary of the Lancashire and North West Beekeepers Association and was elected a BBKA Trustee in 2004. He has been Chairman of the BBKA for the last two years.
