You have heard about the decline in bees in the media and wonder whether you might like to keep bees or simply want to learn a little more about these fascinating insects. If so this day long introduction to bees and beekeeping is for you.


This taster day will feature


Lectures by Martin Smith, Chairman of the British Beekeepers Association on


Honey bees, bumble bees and wasps

The cost & time involved in beekeeping

The life cycles of queen, worker and drone bees

Where can I keep bees?


Talks by Barbara Roderick, President & Education Officer of Lancashire & North West Beekeepers Association on


Local beekeeping groups in the area

Support for new beekeepers

How new beekeepers actually get bees to get started


In addition examples of hives and equipment will be on display and people who have recently taken up beekeeping will be on hand to talk to interested people.

 

Cost £50.00 per person, including lunch and morning/afternoon refreshments.
